Could Alabama father’s rights case change things in Minnesota?

On Behalf of Huson Law Firm, PLLC | Mar 26, 2019 | Fathers' Rights |

When the U.S. Supreme Court hears a case, its impact is felt throughout the country regardless of where it originated. This is important when it comes to an Alabama case where a father is suing an abortion clinic for aborted his unborn child. This case could have an impact in Minnesota on father’s rights in the case of an abortion.

Currently, according to Fox News, the prevailing opinion is that the father has no rights to an unborn child and any decisions a mother makes regarding that unborn child. So, if a mother wants to get an abortion, she does not need the permission of the father. In fact, she doesn’t even have to tell him she is doing it.

That is what happened in this case. The father asked the mother to not get an abortion, but she did it anyway. He is suing the abortion clinic and everyone associated with performing the abortion.

With this case, you could gain some additional rights when it comes to abortion. This man’s ultimate goal is to give fathers some rights over unborn children. It could pave the way for legislation at the state level that could extend fathers’ rights. There is hope this case will make it to the U.S. Supreme Court so it can bring about this type of change throughout the country.

The opposition worries this case will have a negative impact on women’s rights. Mainly, pro-choice advocates are against this case and will likely work to keep it out of the highest court in the land. This information is for education and is not legal advice.
